Yusif Eyvazov is a dramatic operatic tenor, who completed his advanced studies in Italy.

Known for his brilliant high notes, Mr. Eyvazov is a regular guest at the most prestigious opera houses and Festivals in the world, including the Royal Opera House London, the Munich State Opera and the Vienna State Opera, La Scala Milan, the Opera National de Paris, and the Metropolitan Opera.  The unique sound of his voice, described as “metallic, stentorian and markedly Italianate” (L.A. Times), and an outstanding stage presence have allowed him to combine active opera career with frequent concert performances.

Yusif has appeared on numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon including a complete recording of Puccini’s ‘Manon Lescaut’ live from the Salzburg Festival and with his wife, soprano Anna Netrebko’s on the cross-over album Romanza. On March 9, 2017, Yusif Eyvazov was awarded the title of “People’s Artist of Azerbaijan”.

In the 2022/23 season Yusif Eyvazov performs his signature role of Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) at three major opera houses: Opernhaus Zürich, the MET and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires in the concert version along Anna Netrebko, where they also appear in a joint recital. He returns to Teatro Real as Radames (Aida) and can be heard as Manrico (Il Trovatore) at the Paris Opera and Royal Opera House. The highlights of the season also include his appearance in the title role in the production of Andrea Chenier at Teatro alla Scala. On the concert stage, the famous tenor can be heard alongside Anna Netrebko at Elbphilharmonie and Alte Oper Frankfurt.

Yusif Eyvazov kicks off the 2021/22 season as Calaf (Turandot) at the Metropolitan Opera,
where he is also making his stage debut as Rodolfo (La Boheme) later in the Season. Another
notable role debut as Riccardo (Un Ballo in Maschera) brings him back to the Deutsche Oper
Berlin. He returns to the Bolshoi Theatre and the Liceu Opera Barcelona as Herman (Queen
of Spades), to the Teatro di San Carlo as Radames (Aida) and Otello, to the Teatro alla Scala
as Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur), to the Opera Monte Carlo as Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut)
and to the Berlin State Opera as Calaf (Turandot). In addition, alongside Anna Netrebko he
gives concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Smetana Hall, Aarhus Musikhuset,
Elbphilharmonie, Malmö Arena, Alte Oper Frankfurt and KKL Luzern.

Highlights of the previous 2020/21 season include his role debut as Duke of Mantua
(Rigoletto) at the Mariinski Theatre, where he also appeared among other roles as Radames
(Aida) and Dick Johnson (La Fanciulla del West). Moreover, Yusif Eyvazov returned to the
Bolshoi Theatre as Don Carlo, to the Liceu Opera Barcelona and the Teatro di San Carlo as
Manrico (Il Trovatore), to the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Real and the Salzburg Festival as
Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), to the Arena di Verona as Calaf (Turandot), Canio (Pagliacci) and
Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana) and to the Teatro Massimo as Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut).
Scheduled performances as Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Royal Opera House and the
Munich State Opera, as Calaf (Turandot) at the Teatro alla Scala and the Salzburg Easter
Festival, as Manrico (Il Trovatore) at the Opera National de Paris in 2020/21 were cancelled
due to the Covid-pandemic.

Highlights of the 2019/20 include his triumphant return to the Metropolitan Opera to perform two of his signature roles: Herman in the new production of The Queen of Spades and Calaf (Turandot), a performance of which has been broadcasted live in HD. Besides that, he also took part in the prestigious New Year Eve Gala concert for the Metropolitan Opera conducted by Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin and featuring a line-up of international stars. Moreover, he made his house debut as Maurizio in a concert version of Adriana Lecouvreur at Deutsche Oper Berlin and returned to the Vienna State Opera as Manrico (Il Trovatore).

In addition, in summer 2020 there is a series of spectacular open-air concerts, alongside Anna Netrebko at Piazza del Plebiscito (Napoli), Arena di Verona, Circo Massimo (Rome), Teatro della Verdura (Palermo), Congress Square (Ljubljana) and Grafenegg Festival. Moreover, the star couple appears at the special celebration of 100 years of Salzburg Festival, giving a concert of russian music.

Highlights of the 18/19 season include role debuts as Dick Johnson (La Fanciulla del West) at the Metropolitan opera and as Don Alvaro (La forza del destino) at Royal Opera House. Moreover, Yusif Eyvazov appeared in title roles of Andrea Chenier at Vienna State Opera, Herman (The Queen of Spades) and Don Carlo at Bolshoi Theater. In addition, he sang Manrico (Il Trovatore), alongside Anna Netrebko, at Arena di Verona and Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) at Salzburg Festival. He also gave the series of his first solo recitals at the Salle Gaveau, Elbphilharmonie and Tonhalle Düsseldorf, sang at Wiener Opernball and 350th Anniversary Gala of Opera National de Paris.

In the 17/18 season Yusif Eyvazov and Anna Netrebko had the release of new cross-over album “Romanza” for Deutsche Grammophon. In September and October they toured across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, including cities such as Dubai, Tokyo, Nanjing, Melbourne and Sydney. Then Yusif Eyvazov had a successful debut at the prestigious season opening of Teatro alla Scala in the title role of Andrea Chenier. In 17/18 he could be also seen at Bolshoi Theatre as Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), at Covent Garden and Mariinsky theatre as Macduff (Macbeth), at Berlin State Opera as Cavaradossi (Tosca), Opera National de Paris as Manrico (Il Trovatore) and Arena di Verona as Radames (Aida). He gave concerts at Monte Carlo, Moscow, Minsk, Zagreb, London, Würth, Lübeck and Salzburg and finished the 17/18 season with an extensive tour throughout South America, including cities such as Santiago, Sao Paulo, Lima and Buenos Aires.

In the 2015/16 season, Yusif Eyvazov made a series of important debuts at the world-renowned opera houses. He stared as Canio in Los Angeles Opera’s production of I Pagliacci conducted by Plácido Domingo, made his first appearances at the Metropolitan Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper singing Calaf in Turandot, and debuts at both the Paris Opera and at the Staatsoper Berlin as Manrico in Il Trovatore. His Salzburg Festival debut took place in the summer of 2016, as Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut. On the concert stage, he sang in Parma under the baton of Marco Boemi with a programme featuring works by Verdi and Puccini, in concert with Riccardo Muti in December, and undertook a major concert tour throughout Asia alongside Anna Netrebko, in the spring of 2016.

In the 2014/15 season, Yusif Eyvazov performed Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana at the Teatro Filarmonico for the Verona Opera Festival and Radames in Aida with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Mr Eyvazov sang Verdi’s Requiem at the Auditorium di Milano with the LaVerdi Symphony Orchestra and also a recital at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona alongside Anna Netrebko, conducted by Massimo Zanetti.

Mr Eyvazov´s repertoire includes the roles of Alfredo in “La Traviata”, Cavaradossi in “Tosca”, Renato des Grieux in “Manon Lescaut”, Kalaf in “Turandot”, Andrea Chenier in “Andrea Chenier”, Rodolfo in “La Boheme”, Don Carlos in “Don Carlos” and many others.

He lives in Vienna with his wife Anna Netrebko and her son Tiago.

On March 9, 2017, by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan I. Aliyev Yusif Eyvazov was awarded the title of “People´s Artist of Azerbaijan”.
